Comet 2002 T7 (LINEAR)

C/2002 T7 (LINEAR) 2004 05 20.38, 550sec exposure showing a 10 degree long (where it extends beyond the edge of the camera frame) gas tail and broad faint fan to the south and west of the coma. Taken with a Nikon D70 camera and 85mm lens @ f/2.0 from Loomberah, NSW Australia.
Reddish brown bands across the photo, also evident in the wide angle photos may be related to smoke, or more likely, airglow.

North is up in this 16' field, and the image is scaled to represent the visual appearance through a large telescope.
Taken with a 45cm f/5.4 Newtonian, + AP7 CCD from the Gene Shoemaker Planetary Society NEO grant from Loomberah NSW Australia.
